Tidy Up, Tidy Down

Recalling several ordinary and private moments—when moving house, finding a box of forgotten collections in the garage, unsure whether to discard them or where to put them; or watching the desk in the studio gradually become messy, yet reluctant to tidy it up all at once. When these temporarily shelved moods gather together, what kind of space do they constitute?
Fang-i Cheng (鄭芳宜), Miao-ying Lu (呂妙盈), and Chih-kai Lu (魯志楷) start from different materials and concerns, embodying "tidying up" as a form of artistic practice. Creation is about accumulating while simultaneously letting go, repeatedly trying to keep things in balance.
The works exhibited in 'Tidy Up, Tidy Down' originate precisely from their experiences of picking up images and objects. These imported treasures once belonged to another time and space, carrying a sense of distance and an unknowable provenance. Here, the memories of the artists and the viewers are laid out and extended from where they overlap. While things remain in a state of not yet being organized, the act of "tidying up" will also be continued by each visitor, moving between the various works.
