Theme Exhibition: 'AI Stalling – If AI Can Write, What Should We Write?'

Date: 2026-04-08 — 2026-07-19 Organizer: 南投縣政府文化局
AI is the hottest technology today. In an era where artificial intelligence can produce thousands of words in a second, writing seems effortless. Ask AI to depict daily life, it can respond with beautiful rhetoric, but it cannot resonate with the aroma of fried chicken snacks; seeing childhood photos, hearing favorite cartoon songs—these are things only "you" know, only "you" can describe that unique feeling, and the omnipotent AI instantly enters a "stalling" state of computational overload.
The Nantou County Literature Archives launches the theme exhibition "AI Stalling – If AI Can Write, What Should We Write?", attempting to shed the rigid baggage of tech exhibitions and respond to this digital generation era with a reflective stance. The public is welcome to visit and experience a journey of dialogue between technology and literature.
The charm of literature lies in those irreplaceable real senses and profound local connections, hidden even in the judgment, hesitation, and blank spaces before the writer puts pen to paper. This exhibition displays the physical manuscripts of writers filled with revision marks in "The Moment the Cursor Stalls", something unimaginable in modern computer word processing; "AI Cannot Calculate the Aroma of Fried Chicken Snacks" evokes your real response to the five senses; "Defeated by Pun Homophones" presents the fun of colloquial sayings, pun homophones, or double entendres; and "The Warmth of Handwriting" lets visitors try returning to the pleasure of thinking through handwriting, feeling the warmth generated by motivation in literature.
AI seems omnipotent, so what should we write? This exhibition, through the lens of literature, leads you to explore the inner world inaccessible to algorithms. Let us temporarily put down our reliance on perfect generation and rediscover the observation and sensibility unique to humans.
