Wandering in Satoyama: An Exhibition of Local Characteristic Craft Materials

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 國立臺灣工藝研究發展中心
This exhibition serves as a field for practicing "Slow Living SLOHAS_Is a Joyful Thing." Through crafts, it initiates a ripple effect, allowing visitors to wander in the daily life of crafts, showcasing the attitude that "crafts are slow waves of happiness, life matters," and to feel more deeply the connection between simple living and the land.
Using "material" as a medium, it explores how craft creation, through the understanding and practice of materiality, returns to the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature, matter and spirit. It hopes to cover characteristic craft materials from various places in Taiwan, exploring how Taiwan, with its diverse climates, ethnicities, and cultural blends, has developed craft traditions with local characteristics.
"Satoyama" refers to the natural order derived from complex and diverse ecological environments, pursuing environmental protection and sustainable development. The exhibition not only displays the materials themselves but also introduces the techniques, materials, and processes used by different artisans to interpret the spatiotemporal context they inhabit. It is a process of dialogue between "material" and "life," leading the audience to try to feel the vitality of the land carried by each material.
