Nostalgia for Bygone Days - Special Exhibition of Paintings Depicting Childhood Joys from the Museum Collection

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-11-08 Organizer: 黃金田
The Taiwan Historica (Academia Historica) holds a collection of one hundred folk paintings by local painter Mr. Huang Chin-t'ien (黃金田), with the main themes focusing on the daily life of children in early Taiwan, including field games, nature exploration, and helping with farm work. To encourage the promotion and application of public history and enhance understanding of Taiwan's history, 55 paintings have been specially selected for their first public exhibition. Based on the content and意境 of the works, they are divided into four major themes: "Playful Childhood Games," "Creative Ingenuity," "Rural and Wilderness Fun," and "Daily Life of Farming Families." Painter Huang Chin-t'ien, with his rich life experience and keen observation, vividly depicts the life of common people and childhood joys in early Taiwan through warm and delicate brushstrokes and soft, colorful tones, presenting the various aspects of life in olden times. Meanwhile, the exhibition space is planned with physical exhibits and interactive traditional toys, providing a viewing experience that engages both vision and touch, leading viewers across generations to feel the joy of "returning to one's初心."
