"The Bond of Ink and Visage" Chen Shih-chieh Creative Solo Exhibition
Early human art often featured animal motifs or symbolic patterns on everyday objects, whereas today, art is already integrated into life. In this "The Bond of Ink and Visage" solo exhibition, teacher Chen Shih-chieh (陳世傑) uses brush and ink as mediums, through ink and color painting art, combined with diverse creative forms such as stone painting, fan painting, gourd painting, and pendants, to showcase the extension and transformation of traditional art in the contemporary era. It aims to promote the beauty of Chinese culture, advance cultural education, and enhance public humanistic and artistic literacy, embodying the profound meaning of cultural heritage and artistic inheritance in every stroke and ink.
While teacher Chen Shih-chieh has long been dedicated to artistic creation, his life after retirement is equally colorful. Due to his love for nature, he often draws creative inspiration from hiking or outdoor activities. Once, during a conversation with friends, he learned that owls symbolize good fortune and wealth in Japanese culture, so he incorporated them into his own creations. In his works, both large and small, owls frequently appear, becoming a highly distinctive element. Beyond creation, he is also invited to serve as a guide at the Taian Turtle Shell Ecological Park, contributing to ecological conservation. While conducting ecological interpretation, he combines DIY courses to add fun to the classes. He currently also teaches creative ink and color courses at the Evergreen Academy, continuing to promote art education, allowing more people to experience the charm of ink art through teaching and creation.
Each solo exhibition is a process of facing oneself and starting anew. His creations carry emotions through brush and ink, integrating diverse media to expand the possibilities of ink art, allowing tradition to show new vitality through transformation, embodying the concept that "art is life, life is art," guiding viewers to feel the beauty and resonance of art and life intertwined while appreciating.
"The Bond of Ink and Visage" is not just an exhibition of works, but an artistic journey about the interweaving of culture, creation, and life, inviting viewers to step into it and savor the unique charm displayed by the fusion of ink and color.
