Rohmer's veteran editor Mary Stephen uses images to write a journey of self-reconstruction.
Veteran editor Mary Stephen always wondered: is her surname Stephen, Hsueh (雪), or Chen (陳)? With an Asian face but a Western surname, she follows the trail and discovers her father was from Australia, and her mother's literary dream sparked a cross-cultural romance. Using the camera as a detective, she searches through her father's biography, family images, and old photos, centering on "Stephen" to piece together a family history intertwined with the century's upheavals. Between reality and illusion, in the network of tracing bloodlines and history, she rewrites herself.
