A boy named Hsiao Chih-ho (蕭治和), abandoned by his single mother at an orphanage when young, is bullied by other children with nowhere to turn for help. Meanwhile, a suspected dog-killing case opens the story of another orphanage, where social worker Tsai Jen-hsing (蔡仁興) is determined to reform the children in the home but faces constant setbacks. And YANG, who moved out of the orphanage at 18 to return to his impoverished hometown, faces immense survival challenges. As their stories intertwine, each must confront past traumas and decide whether to succumb to the darkness or strive once more for a better future.
