June Kaohsiung Film Archive | Daughter of Nectar [Protected]
Following "Le Moulin," once again leading a groundbreaking wave of Taiwanese local humanistic documentary aesthetics.
★ 2025 Golden Horse Awards Nominations for Best Documentary and Best Original Film Score
"Daughter of Nectar" is a marble nude statue created in 1921 by Huang Tu-shui (黃土水), Taiwan's first modern sculptor, and is also a statue that silently watches over. It quietly gazes upon Taiwan's historical trajectory over the past century, from the Japanese colonial period to the suppression and struggles of the White Terror era. This work reflects the suffering and transformation of an island, as if witnessing the harshness of history and the resilience of its people in silence.
