Ink-Soaked Landscape ~ Lee Hui-cheng 85 Ink Painting Grand Exhibition
Ink painting master Lee Hui-cheng (李惠正), born in 1941 in Nantun, Taichung, has artistic roots deeply embedded in his hometown by the Fazih Creek. The experiences of his childhood, wandering through mountains, forests, and streams, laid a profound aesthetic foundation for his later artistic practice. This life experience closely connected to the land often leads him to depict heavy mountains and forests, deep ravines, and rushing streams and waterfalls in his paintings, showcasing the majestic grandeur of nature and making him a highly representative figure in contemporary Taiwanese ink painting.
Professor Lee's works are highly recognizable; the heavy ink and rich colors in his brushwork give viewers a powerful visual impact, forming a unique style. His creations pursue the artistic aesthetics of "heaviness, grandeur, and simplicity": using "heaviness" to show the strength and weight of brush and ink lines; using "grandeur" to present the painter's vast and boundless mind; and using "simplicity" to return to the original heart, pursuing the highest realm of plainness and unadorned beauty. The spiritual mountains and rivers under his brush carve a new path within the traditional context, presenting a unique modern charm and showcasing a distinctive personal style.
He firmly believes that true art originates from nature and returns to authenticity. Only by taking the land as the root and brush and ink as the bridge can one outline a spiritual utopia in one's heart within a confined space. This exhibition gathers the essence of Professor Lee's 85-year artistic life. We sincerely invite all art lovers to attend this visual feast of rich ink charm and magnificent momentum, to savor the steady and resolute ink-saturated quality of Professor Lee's artistic life!
