[Craft Journey] Market Craftsman's Skill - Ts'ao-t'un (草屯) Walk: The Craft Scenery in Daily Life
Do you know why Ts'ao-t'un (草屯) was formerly called "Straw Shoe Mound" (草鞋墩)?
What kind of blessings and good omens are hidden in the "Leading Chicken" (帶路雞) from traditional dowry shops?
This time, we will start from the story-filled Nantou Story House (南投故事館), walk into the old streets of Ts'ao-t'un and its market alleys, and search together for the craft scenery hidden in everyday life.
Along the way, we will taste traditional-style flour-tea shaved ice, experience bamboo childhood toys that evoke memories of childhood, and knock on the door of a traditional dowry shop to learn about the craft objects carrying blessings and memories within wedding customs.
We will step into a dried meat shop, a peanut candy shop, and a shoe repair shop in the market, seeing how craftsmen use their hands to perpetuate their skills, and seeing how craftsmanship exists in everyone's daily life.
Walk highlights:
