Reconstructing the Myriad Forms in Light and Shadow: Hsu K'un-ch'eng (許坤成) Oil Painting and Lacquer Solo Exhibition

Date: 2026-05-22 — 2026-07-31 Organizer: 聯邦藝術中心
"Reality is like an exquisite painting; merely depicting the external form of an object is insufficient. It must also possess the profound perception of intuition and touch, and evoke a pleasurable resonance in the viewer, to be considered 'real.'" - Hsu K'un-ch'eng

In this exhibition, the creator uses everyday still-life objects such as wine bottles, fruit, and porcelain. Through a meticulous and serene contemplation of these objects, he depicts a more natural and authentic side.

Hsu K'un-ch'eng blends super-realism and post-cubist techniques to construct multiple perspectives within natural light and shadow. He employs foreshortening, bird's-eye views, and scattered-point perspective—methods akin to concepts in Eastern painting—to reconstruct the relationship between space and sight on a flat plane, presenting a unique visual experience.
