Permanent Exhibition: "Yushan Chronicle – Understanding the History of Yushan"
The Yushan National Park Headquarters was established on April 10, 1985. As time passes and years go by, entering the tracks of history, one wonders how much pioneering and successive effort by predecessors in this magnificent park area led to the beauty of Yushan today. Stemming from a desire to explore and preserve this mission passed down through generations, we conceived this exhibition to let the public understand the history of Yushan. This exhibition collects representative and historically recorded items (such as official documents and photos of major events, the first park entry permit and summit certificate, international exchange memorabilia, award-winning publications, etc.). Each exhibit is a treasure of the Yushan National Park Headquarters, hoping to amaze viewers and let them feel the profound richness and stirring beauty of Yushan National Park.
The exhibition is divided into four major themes:
Theme 1 Area "Organizational and Staffing Changes at Yushan – The Years We Walked Together": Introduces the successive directors and organizational reforms since the establishment of the Yushan Headquarters, the completion of the Shueili headquarters foundation and building in 1995, the establishment of the first outpost (a protection stronghold guarding the territory) Lulin Mountain Management Station, and other items.
Theme 2 Area "Management and Partnerships": Covers the past and present of Yushan National Park, the prohibition of mining in the Walabi area and the halt of the New Central Cross-Island Highway construction, indigenous partnerships, international exchanges, and other items.
Theme 3 Area "Cherishing Yushan, Glorifying Yushan": Includes frequently acclaimed multi-faceted publications, photography exhibitions on the beauty of Yushan, outstanding achievements of conservation rangers and volunteers, high-altitude ecological island species conservation, research stations (Tafen and Nanhsi), and other items.
Theme 4 Area "Mountaineering and Recreation Services": Covers the evolution of the Yushan Main Peak trail, the initiation and continuation of total visitor capacity control, the transfer and new construction of Paiyun Lodge, the renovation of long-distance trekking mountain huts and Japanese-era wire suspension bridges, and other items.
