Lobby Project | Becoming in Flux: The Art of Algorithms (2026)

Date: 2026-04-25 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 王新仁;陳芷渝;亞歷山卓・喬凡尼琪;Kazuhiro TANIMOTO;林經堯
When art no longer points to a combination of static objects, but continuously generates and unfolds in an ongoing process of flux, is the audience still merely spectators? When participatory viewing begins to intervene and influence the development of creation, can we coexist, share, and empathize with the work through such interaction?
In response to these questions, the Lobby Project "Becoming in Flux: The Art of Algorithms," curated by the art collective Volume DAO, transforms the museum's entrance space and LED screens—a transitional space between entering and leaving, originally only traversed—into a site for interaction between the artwork and the audience, a field where meaning is continuously generated. The audience is invited to become one of the triggers for the work's generation, using their mobile phones to participate in adjusting the work's parameters, so that the work is no longer merely displayed or viewed, but gradually unfolds through the process of triggering and response.
The 2026 Lobby Project invites five artists to participate: Wang Hsin-jen (王新仁), Chen Chih-yu (陳芷渝), Alessandro Giovannetti (亞歷山卓.喬凡尼琪), Kazuhiro Tanimoto (Kazuhiro Tanimoto), and Lin Ching-yao (林經堯). Through diverse generative and algorithmic practices, they explore complex and organic aesthetic spaces that navigate between order and chaos. Their creations encompass simulations of painting techniques, redefining the relationship between artist, work, and audience, and reflections on the interweaving of the artificial and the natural.
Here, the work serves as a starting point for an artistic event, a dynamic narrative process in constant flux. Within the operational contours outlined by algorithms, at the intersection of viewing and participation, the work continuously transforms over time, through rules and real-time interaction with the audience. Poetic resonance also emerges within, collectively shaping a creative space belonging to this very moment, full of change and tension, and opening pathways to different perceptions and imaginations.
