Electromagnetic Horizon 2.0: The Vanished Scientist (Closed from March 2 to June 1 for Air Conditioning System Improvement Project)

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 國立自然科學博物館車籠埔斷層保存園區
The park, in collaboration with Taiwan Power Company, has planned a dazzling pylon that combines electromagnetic science education. Paired with the opening of the special exhibition "Electromagnetic Horizon," it began on Christmas Eve 2017 to lead everyone in exploring the mysteries of electricity and magnetism! Why would a park themed around earthquakes and geology host a special exhibition on electricity? The main reason comes from the high-voltage pylon at the entrance. In the past, the public considered high-voltage pylons to be extremely dangerous facilities, not only due to the high voltage but also because the electromagnetic waves were frighteningly high. Therefore, many visitors, upon seeing the high-voltage pylon at the entrance, became afraid and did not want to enter and visit. But are the electromagnetic waves from high-voltage pylons really that dangerous? This special exhibition takes electricity and electromagnetic waves as its main themes, introducing household electricity and electromagnetic waves. Through 85 electromagnetic wave monitoring stations, it actually measures and visually displays the power electromagnetic waves from the ultra-high-voltage pylon operating within the park, allowing the public to see the strength of electromagnetic waves with their own eyes. Simultaneously, it provides many interactive exhibits both indoors and outdoors, enabling visitors to learn scientific knowledge about electricity, electromagnetism, and energy through play. "Electromagnetic Horizon 2.0: The Vanished Scientist" opened for visits on January 1, 2023. This special exhibition focuses on the popular science dissemination of electricity and magnetism. The 2.0 updated version is built upon the foundation of the old version, using mysterious electromagnetic fields and atomic imagery as the entrance design.
