[2026 Spring Breeze Joyful Dance Concert] Deja Vu – Hearing the Echoes of Time in Tsao-hsieh-tun
In early summer 2026, as the warm breeze gently blows and vitality awakens, it is just like singing slowly blooming on stage. We move forward amidst applause and emotion, holding a heart of gratitude, seeing a group of musicians who have long been deeply rooted in the local community and love the art of choral music, irrigating the land with their voices, leaving moving echoes of culture through the years.
The Tsao-hsieh-tun Philharmonic Choir's 2026 annual concert takes "Deja Vu" as its theme, connecting memories and emotions through music, leading the audience into the flow of time, hearing the humanistic stories and life fragments belonging to Tsao-hsieh-tun. This concert is planned in three major chapters – Encounter, Falling in Love, and Longing – using melody to depict the flow of human emotions.
I. Encounter: At the starting point of memory, we meet in the familiar land and time.
Choral
"Hua-ting Men" (花廳門), "Tung Oil Flower" (油桐花)
Piano Four-Hands
"Somewhere in Time"
Baritone Solo
Rossini: "Largo al factotum" from "The Barber of Seville"
II. Falling in Love: As the melody flows, emotions sprout and bloom in the singing.
Choral
"A-mei A-mei" (阿美阿美), "Let's Go Watch the Clouds" (讓我們看雲去), "Kapok Road" (木棉道), "Scene in the Rain" (雨中即景)
Soprano and Violin
Strauss: "Morgen"
Freed from the constraints of lyrics, the violin, through changes in timbre (from the low-pitched sobbing to the high-pitched pleading), can express the loneliness of "gazing at the sky, longing for afar" to the fullest.
Violin Solo
Tchaikovsky: "None but the Lonely Heart" from "Six Romances"
Choral and Violin
"Longing for the Spring Breeze" (望春風)
III. Longing: In the depths of time, longing and memory intertwine into moving melodies.
Soprano Solo
Verdi: "Caro nome" from the opera "Rigoletto"
Choral
"Speechless Flower" (無言花), "Seven Chapters of Life - Love" (人生七章-愛)
• Figaro's Love: is worldly, joyful, full of action.
• Gilda's ("Caro nome") Love: is innocent, fantastical, sacrificial.
• Strauss's "Morgen" Love: most closely matches what Chen Wei-pin (陳維斌) calls "love" – that kind of companionship that transcends words, is silent, and eternal.
• "Speechless Flower" and "None but the Lonely Heart": are the other side of love – the loneliness born from love and the longing for belonging.
Love is letting go of the past, it is courage for the future. It is a warm power that allows one to still feel the richness of life when facing death or loss.
