Yuanlin City Police Story Museum Exhibition
To promote local tourism development, the Yuanlin Township Office allocated funds to renovate the old police dormitory of the Yuanlin District Office. Together with the County Police Bureau, the old police dormitory was planned into the Police Story Museum, displaying precious artifacts from the Japanese occupation period to the 1980s. These include the 'List of Traitors' reported by the Yuanchuan Police Station during the February 28 Incident and the self-cleansing report of the Datsun Village chief, as well as precious photos from the 1940s of police officers from the Hsi-hu Police Station visiting drinking establishments, and early police equipment such as hand-cranked sirens, air defense lamps, air defense gongs and drums, and large evidence-collection tape recorders.
The Police Story Museum was completed and opened on December 19, 2013 (Republic of China year 102). The purpose of establishing the museum is to promote the spirit of police sacrifice, dedication, and service by exhibiting historical artifacts and materials from various periods. Through the display of precious police cultural heritage, it aims to jointly continue and pass on the excellent police culture, highlight police characteristics, enable the public to understand the connotation of police culture, increase recognition of the police, and actively function in external marketing.
The Police Story Museum serves as a medium for preserving police historical artifacts and social education. With its soft power encompassing different levels, it commemorates the sacrificial and dedicatory spirit of police colleagues, highlighting the selfless sentiments of the police in safeguarding social security and enhancing people's welfare. Its importance is self-evident.
The museum's value of existence is not only related to the cohesion of police solidarity and the enhancement of service spirit but also plays a role in connecting the past with the future, carrying the dual mission of 'looking back' and 'looking forward.' It is hoped that with the support of all sectors of society and colleagues, it will continue to glorify the police mission.
