Tung Tso Inkstone Art Museum Exhibition

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 董坐
Tung Tso (董坐) comes from a family of inkstone artisans. From a young age, he followed his father, Tung Jen-shen (董壬申), in making Lo River stone inkstones. To advance his skills, he visited marble factories in Hualien, introduced and improved cutting machinery, and meticulously studied inkstone carving techniques, breaking free from his father's conventions. The meaning of his works has evolved with the times, showcasing diverse creations. From inkstone carving to planar carving, relief carving, and three-dimensional carving; from plants and animals to realism and abstraction—all are shaped within the universe of his hands. Among them, the work 'Hundred Dragons Inkstone,' created from a six-hundred-kilogram Lo River stone, took 23 months to complete this monumental masterpiece.
