"Touching Pottery Light - Feeling the Beauty of Pottery with Your Hands" Permanent Exhibition

Date: 2026-04-17 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 苗栗縣政府文化觀光局
The Miaoli Ceramics Museum has launched a new exhibition in its first-floor permanent exhibition area, aiming to break the visual-centric limitations of traditional museum viewing. Utilizing 3D scanning and printing technology, the exhibition creates touchable pottery models. It displays numerous 3D-printed models based on the museum's ceramic collection, allowing visitors to feel the form and surface texture of the artworks through touch. The exhibition also incorporates braille and descriptive text to provide multiple ways of engagement.
The museum's collection consists of ceramics, which are fragile by nature, requiring higher protection for children's visits and experiences. The 3D-printed replica models retain the three-dimensional characteristics and details of the original pieces while avoiding damage from accidental touching or impact. This allows children to explore freely in a safer environment, enhancing their sense of participation and learning interest. It also provides visually impaired visitors with opportunities to touch and explore freely. By breaking down barriers to cultural access, the exhibition offers more intuitive interactive experiences for the visually impaired, hearing impaired, and children.
"Touching Pottery Light - Feeling the Beauty of Pottery with Your Hands" combines technology and design, with cultural equity at its core, to further promote research, promotion, and educational functions, realizing the value of cultural sharing. We sincerely invite visitors to enter the exhibition hall, feel the warmth of pottery with your hands, and embark on a cultural experience that transcends the senses.
