The Moment of the Flying Brush - Kaohsiung City Bird-and-Insect Script Calligraphy Association Sixth Member Joint Exhibition

Date: 2026-05-22 — 2026-06-02 Organizer: 高雄市鳥蟲體書法協會第六屆會員
'The Moment of the Flying Brush' draws inspiration from the instant the brush is wielded for writing, intertwining the dynamic postures of Bird-and-Insect Script with fleeting moments of life. Each stroke carries the writer's insights and state of mind at a specific moment, making the characters the most vivid traces left in the flow of time.
Bird-and-Insect Script calligraphy is a writing style from traditional Chinese culture dating back two thousand years. Mr. Chao Chao-i (趙朝儀), a senior licentiate of the Ch'ing dynasty, passed on Bird-and-Insect Script calligraphy to Mr. Chao Mu-ho (趙慕鶴), who could write it.
Its brush technique forms its own system, with each stroke imitating the postures of birds—spreading wings, level flight, side flight, diving, soaring, standing posture, finishing tail... a myriad of charming and interesting forms.
The association was officially registered and established in 2010. Up to now, under the leadership of Honorary Chairman K'o Wen-k'uei (柯文逵), all members have tirelessly promoted this picturesque script, elevating the art of Bird-and-Insect Script calligraphy to a new realm. We take this exhibition opportunity to fully showcase it to everyone, hoping to receive your applause.
