Taiwan's Mountains and Seas: Hung Yuan-yi (洪元益) Solo Exhibition

Date: 2026-09-25 — 2026-10-06 Organizer: 洪元益
Recalling Taiwan I
"The Vast Ocean, Formosa" — over four hundred years, under the impact of different Eastern and Western cultures...
it has shaped Taiwan, an island nation, with a historical character of diversity and tolerance. The majestic mountains, cliffs, abundant rainfall, lush forests, and river alluvial plains on the island form a rich landscape; the early settlers, working hard on this precious land, blended cultures, "mountains and seas as bones, humanity as soul," weaving a beautiful picture of the island. In each painting, there are the words of the ancestors, and also the words within you and me.

Studying northward, nearly fifty years have passed in an instant. Wandering on this land of Taiwan, where I was born and grew up, as dear as a mother, I reflect on the vastness of time and the changes of the world. Why not, in these twilight years, use a brush to outline the simple natural and cultural landscapes of Taiwan, sealing those deeply embedded words onto the canvas, to express my remembrance of the ancestors' legacy, and to hope for unity with nature, purifying my heart.
