Date: 2026-05-08 — 2026-06-28 Organizer: Sawa
Japanese artist Sawa has collaborated with fashion brands, releasing works such as clothing and socks. In recent years, her creations have extended from painting to more diverse fields, using materials like fabric and clay to meticulously craft small and gentle ornaments and accessories.
In the spring of 2025, Japanese artist Sawa and Kite, the manager of "Room 7 Reading Room," met in Tokyo. The picture book "Tsuki no Mayu (月の繭)" (The Moon's Cocoon), with poetry by one and illustrations by the other, gradually took shape, becoming a creative fruit borne of their friendship.
This original artwork exhibition for "Tsuki no Mayu (月の繭)" (The Moon's Cocoon) at Xiao Yang. Rizai Bookhouse in Pingtung, Taiwan, not only displays the twelve original paintings created by artist Sawa-san for the picture book, but Sawa-san has also specially prepared three-dimensional works such as handmade paper wind chimes, clay figures, and embroidered cloth dolls, allowing the world within the paintings to step off the pages and into the space, existing quietly in another form.
"Tsuki no Mayu (月の繭)" (The Moon's Cocoon) is a poetic illustrated work using moonlight and cocoons as imagery, depicting the process of life gestating and waiting in silence.
"Not all cocoons can break open. Yet, even so, every life still contains a faint light."
