Seven Cornerhead Series Special Exhibition (Part 3: Lower Cornerhead vs. Tung Fu Temple City God Temple [Between Thoughts])

Date: 2026-04-19 — 2026-07-19 Organizer: 屏東縣政府
"Between Thoughts: The Realm of Good and Evil, Where the Heart Leads" Good and evil are not sharply divided. They are more like a boundary that slowly shifts within the human heart. One thought arises, leaning towards one side; one thought shifts, a correction. "Between Thoughts" starts from the Lower Cornerhead of Tungkang, delving into the City God belief of Tung Fu Temple and its system of Twenty-Four Departments before the temple, exploring how the locality understands good and evil. Here, good and evil are not authoritarian judgments, but are repeatedly reminded through responsibility and choice in daily life. The Twenty-Four Departments each have their own duties. It seems like an institutional arrangement, but it actually transforms abstract values into positions one can stand upon. During the procession for welcoming the royal deity, the facial makeup of the deity generals is distinct; between black and white, the symbolism is clear. But the true boundary is not only drawn on the face, but resides in the hearts of the performers. Every step, every ritual, is a calibration of oneself. From settling as outsiders to rooting locally, the City God belief gradually formed within the community, allowing residents to learn to discern direction as their thoughts shift. Good and evil are never the final verdict, but in "between thoughts," one can still choose to lean towards the side of good.
