Results Exhibition of 'One Shop, One Era' from the Jen-ai District Common People's Memory Collection Project

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 雞籠文史協進會
After months of oral history interviews, data compilation, and content research, the "Jen-ai District Common People's Memory Collection Project," jointly promoted by the Keelung City Bureau of Cultural Tourism and the Keelung Cultural and Historical Association, presents its results to the public through the special exhibition "One Shop, One Era." Citizens are invited to step into the scenes of Jen-ai District's living history to feel the profound depth and emotional warmth of the city's memory.
As the earliest developed commercial and living center of Keelung, Jen-ai District is filled with old shops that have been passed down through generations; their daily lives are the core of the city's memory. This special exhibition presents the project's results in the most comprehensive way, including oral histories of 12 old shops, memory collection activities, thematic lectures, city walking tours, and theater-guided tours. Familiar names such as Chiang Yi-lung Hao, Shun-li Store, Lung-cheng Trading Co., Tung-ming Chinese Medicine Store, Hsin-yu-yi Trading Co., Ku-chin Etiquette, Yuan-shan Silver Shop, Ta-hua Cake Shop, Ming-lang Cloth Store, A-jung Cloth Stall, Kuang-hsing-tang Herbal Shop, and Cheng-kung Leather Shoe Store will all be transformed into real and moving story chapters in the exhibition. Most of these shops have histories of over sixty years, with some even reaching a century, accompanying citizens through the changes of life and times, witnessing the deep cultural heritage of the port city.
The exhibition continues the spirit of "Common People's Memory Collection," ensuring that culture is not just preserved in books but returns to the streets and the scenes of people's lives. Through the accumulated materials from oral histories, video recordings, and artifact preservation, city stories can be utilized and continued, becoming an important force in fostering local sentiment.
"One Shop, One Era" recreates the common people's daily life in Jen-ai District through immersive curation, displaying cultural and historical materials and visual narratives, allowing the audience to feel as if they are穿梭於昔日街景, experiencing the original intentions behind the shops' establishment, the spirit passed down through generations, and the warmth in the memories of local residents. All citizens are invited to the Jen-ai Library to step into the life stories of the century-old district and once again encounter the collective memory of the port city.
