"Poetic Calligraphy and Painting" 2026 Changhua County Song-Bo Calligraphy and Painting Association Member Joint Exhibition

Date: 2026-10-13 — 2026-10-25 Organizer: 彰化縣松柏書畫學會
The Changhua County Song-Bo Calligraphy and Painting Association was formed in 1996 (Year 85 of the Republic of China) by socially prominent cultural figures who love calligraphy and painting, and has now been active for thirty years! There is an age limit for membership; anyone aged 18 or above can join. The membership primarily consists of retired military, civil servants, and teachers, and also extends to individuals from agriculture, industry, and commerce. Currently, there are about 70 members. Upholding the spirit of "never too old to learn," most members usually practice painting at places like the Changhua County Evergreen Academy, Changhua County Cultural Affairs Bureau, Changhua Community University, Changhua City Senior Citizens University, etc. They are taught ink painting techniques by renowned instructors from the art world, making friends through calligraphy and painting. They regularly hold cultural events and member joint exhibitions each year, exchange and learn with other social groups that love arts and culture, and assist county and city governments in writing Spring Festival couplets for charity and painting lanterns and fans, thereby enhancing the members' creative horizons in calligraphy and painting. Over the long term, this has enabled many members to gain recognition in major domestic and international competitions.

There are two members over ninety years old, with the average age generally around 70. However, their diligent creation and dedicated efforts are no less than those of young people. The painting skills of this silver-haired group, presented through their brushes, show years of profound mastery, vivid and full of interest, which is hard for ordinary young people to match. Each has their own distinctive style of painting; the works all contain the author's own life stories or incorporate beautiful travel scenery into the paintings... Each joint exhibition always brings a colorful and diverse visual feast to the audience. The exhibition content is diverse, including landscapes, flowers and birds, meticulous brushwork, splashed ink freehand, calligraphy, seal carving works, etc. Most multi-media paintings are primarily ink paintings. People from all walks of life are welcome to visit and offer guidance.
