Permanent Exhibition of the Municipal Historic Site Feng-i Academy

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 高雄市政府文化局
Feng-i Academy is the earliest, most complete, and largest existing academy in Taiwan, established in the 19th year of the Chia-ch'ing reign of the Ch'ing dynasty (1814). During the Japanese colonial period, the Taiwan Governor-General vigorously promoted a new-style education system, leading to the academy's gradual decline and the deterioration of its buildings year by year. After the war, the buildings were successively occupied by tenants, severely damaging the academy's original layout.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau contracted the renovation in 2007 (Republic of China year 96) and completed the restoration in October 2013 (year 102), proceeding with exhibition planning. It officially opened for operation on November 1, 2014 (year 103). In line with the academy's atmosphere, the museum has curated exhibitions on Fengshan, Feng-i Academy, and the history of the imperial examination system, and presents the worship space of the Wen-ch'ang Temple. This site is a case of historic site revitalization, well worth savoring for its architectural beauty and cultural history.
