Not for Hunting: Spiders - An Exhibition by Lin Cheng-chang (林政璋)

Date: 2026-06-01 — 2026-06-30 Organizer: 林政璋
The exhibition works extensively utilize diverse materials such as driftwood, stones, air-conditioning copper pipes, insulators, marbles, farm tools, irons, coconut shells, and parts of old Japanese wooden tables. Through disassembly, reassembly, and transformation, they give new life to old objects. Lin Cheng-chang has collected various materials over the years, especially marbles, which are gradually being discontinued and are difficult to gather, yet he uses them all without reservation. He spends a great deal of time conceptualizing, recombining originally unrelated objects to create artworks rich in narrative and visual tension.
In addition to spiders, the exhibits also feature forms of ants, flying insects, crabs, and other creatures, showcasing his free interpretation of natural life forms. The cold metal, after oxidation and polishing, forms a stark contrast with natural wood and stone, constructing a unique vocabulary between roughness and delicacy. Through the arrangement of spatial pathways, the works guide viewers to feel the rhythm woven by materials, light, shadow, and form as they move and pause, allowing each piece to tell its own story of life.
