Kaohsiung City Wei-ch'ing Calligraphy Society Year of the Horse Member Joint Exhibition

Date: 2026-06-05 — 2026-06-16 Organizer: 高雄市味青書法學會會員
The Kaohsiung City Wei-ch'ing Calligraphy Society was established in 2003 by the renowned calligraphy master Kuo Ch'un-fu (郭春甫), who gathered a group of enthusiasts dedicated to the study and creation of calligraphy. The society was named 'Wei-ch'ing' to signify the appreciation and savoring of the 'art of black.'
Confucius said: 'Set your heart upon the Way, base yourself in virtue, rely on benevolence, and wander in the arts.' 'Relying on benevolence and wandering in the arts' is precisely the goal that calligraphy learners strive to achieve.
The works exhibited this time encompass all script styles: seal, clerical, regular, running, and cursive. They draw from the ancient while innovating anew, displaying elegance, ease, strength, and beauty. They do not deliberately seek novelty or strangeness; the brushwork and ink charm flow naturally. In today's calligraphic trends that emphasize visual art, this is truly rare and worthy of deep, quiet appreciation and contemplation. We look forward to the guidance and presence of all calligraphy enthusiasts, old friends and new acquaintances alike.
