The two main themes of this exhibition are "The Beauty of Ou-yang Hsun's (歐陽詢) Regular Script and Chao Meng-fu's (趙孟頫) Running/Cursive Script Calligraphy" and "The Beauty of Flower-and-Bird and Landscape Ink Wash Painting."
The art of calligraphy is expressed through brush, ink, and the flow of energy on rice paper. Under the guidance of teachers Huang Shou-chuan (黃壽全) and Tsai Chin-kuei (蔡金貴), members have practiced regular and running/cursive script repeatedly, from structure, thickness, size, angle, smoothness, and other details, precisely copying from models to memorizing and mastering them, enjoying the beauty of calligraphic art, which can also help regulate energy, calm the mind, and benefit body and soul.
The art of ink wash painting is expressed through brush, ink, and pigments on different papers such as rice paper, Kyoto paper, and cicada wing paper. Under the guidance of teachers Hsieh Yi-e (謝逸娥) and Lin Hui-chin (林慧瑾), members have practiced flower-and-bird and landscape ink wash painting from basic lines, shades of ink, dryness/wetness, and layout of foreground/background/left/right scenes, combining theory and technique. They can enjoy the beauty of color, ink tone, and lines while painting, which can cultivate the mind and body and also provide a skill.
We thank this exhibition for allowing members to share the fruits of their usual efforts. Although not perfect, it also provides a good opportunity for viewers to appreciate, observe, and learn from each other, jointly promoting the artistic culture of calligraphy and ink wash painting!
●Notes:
1. The venue is located about a 7-minute walk from Exit 3 of Kaohsiung MRT R3 Siaogang Station. Please take the MRT to the event. If driving, please pay to park in nearby private parking lots and try to carpool.
2. When parking around the venue is insufficient, it is recommended to park at the Kaohsiung MRT Siaogang R3 Station parking lot (10-minute walk), Siaogang Hospital parking lot (15-minute walk), or roadside parking on Peilin Road (10-minute walk).
