Historic Building: Tai-fang Chamber of Commerce Pineapple Canning Factory at Chiu-chu-tang (Taiwan Pineapple Factory) Permanent Exhibition
Due to its geographical environment and climatic conditions being suitable for pineapple growth, the Ta-shu area became a major pineapple production region. There were once 11 pineapple canning factories. Chiu-chu-tang, because of its station on the railway trunk line facilitating transportation, now only has three buildings of the Tai-fang Chamber of Commerce's third and fourth factories remaining. These are the only surviving pineapple industry buildings from the Japanese colonial period in all of Taiwan. After a two-year restoration project by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the "Taiwan Pineapple Factory" opened on August 18, 2018.
The Taiwan Pineapple Factory is divided into three halls: A: Ta-shu History and Culture Exhibition Hall, B: Pineapple Industry Exhibition Hall, C: Wang-lai Association. The nearly century-old industrial facility has been transformed into the Taiwan Pineapple Factory, becoming a venue where knowledge, learning, experience, and leisure coexist, allowing the public to feel the glorious era of Taiwan's pineapple canning industry.
