Historic Building Chishan Station – Sugar Railway Story Museum Permanent Exhibition

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 高雄市政府文化局
"Chishan Station - Sugar Railway Story Museum": Strolling along Chishan Old Street, a fairytale-like house with a turquoise octagonal roof stands at the end of the street. Chishan Station, the most important station on the sugar industry railway's Chiwei Line (旗尾線) and the gateway to the nine inland districts of Kaohsiung, bore the heavy responsibility of transporting sugar, sugarcane, bananas, and other industrial products during the Japanese colonial era, supporting Chishan's most golden age of prosperity. It was registered as a historic building in 2005 and reopened in 2016 as the Sugar Railway Story Museum.
In 2021, the interior space was reorganized, turning the Sugar Railway Story Museum into a themed cultural and creative exhibition hall and store focusing on sugar, bananas, and trains. Displays include the Chiwei Line's "Chi" No. 353 Belgian-made small locomotive and VR virtual reality installations, along with exclusively developed cultural and creative products. These allow visitors to return to the nostalgic times of the Chiwei Line through the locomotive and virtual technology, and also take home plenty of tourism souvenirs.
