Hamaxing Taiwan Railway Museum - Spanning a Century, Traversing Taiwan
The "Hamaxing Taiwan Railway Museum" is located in the Penglai Warehouse of the Pier-2 Art Center. Its thematic planning starts from Takao Hamaxing and extends to Taiwan's century-old railway history. It specially uses HO scale (1:87) railway dioramas, tracks, and train models, combined with theatrical sound and light effects, to jointly showcase the developmental trajectory of Taiwan's century-old railway civilization. Through classic passenger and freight train models from different eras, it leads the public across time and space on a round-the-island tour of Taiwan's major cities and small towns. Through the interweaving and transformation of time and space, it reviews the people and events along the railway lines in Taiwan from the Qing Dynasty, the Japanese colonial period, to the present day. The "Old Takao Station Story House" next to the Railway Museum site was formerly the Kaohsiung Harbor Station. It was Kaohsiung's first train station (Takao Station), the starting point of the southern section of the Trunk Line, and the birthplace of modern civilization in southern Taiwan.
