Goodbye 886 – Corner 12-1 Permanent Exhibition

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 高雄市立歷史博物館
In the pivotal year of 1949, the government of the Republic of China retreated from the mainland, and millions of military personnel and civilians crossed the sea, arriving in Taiwan. A unique story belonging to the military dependents' villages, woven with history as the warp and military personnel and civilians as the weft, began to unfold. Military dependents' villages are not just places where people lived; they are vessels containing countless stories and fields nurturing culture. This hall transforms the original眷舍 (military dependents' village residence) into a "cultural salon space." Through exhibiting historical artifacts, old objects from the villages, as well as reading书香 (the fragrance of books) and multimedia audiovisuals, it allows the public to experience the past history of the military dependents' villages with all five senses in the quiet corner residence, engage in dialogue with their present selves, and nurture their own military dependents' village stories within the salon.
