Exhibitions Now On
February 28th ‧ March 6th
This building was originally the Kaohsiung City Office during the Japanese colonial period and was converted into the Kaohsiung City Government after the war, making it one of the important historical sites of the February 28 Incident in Kaohsiung. On March 6, 1947, accompanied by a light drizzle, the first gunshot of the government military's armed crackdown rang out here, marking the beginning of a series of sacrifices in the Kaohsiung February 28 Incident. This exhibition features the first-ever model scene in Taiwan depicting the armed crackdown at the old Kaohsiung City Government during the February 28 Incident, recreating the historical situation of that time. Combined with the display of related artifacts, it allows visitors not only to immerse themselves in the experience but also to use the historical reenactment of the February 28 Incident as important educational material. Through this exhibition, it is hoped that visitors can progress from knowing and understanding to contemplating the particularity, controversy, and historical significance of the February 28 Incident in Kaohsiung. Displaying February 28th may also be an opportunity for people with different perspectives to engage in dialogue and reflection together.
