Chishan Living Culture Park Permanent Exhibition
The municipally designated historic site 'Old Kushan Elementary School' was originally the Fanshuliao Ordinary Higher Elementary School during the Japanese colonial period and was reorganized into Kushan Elementary School after the war. In 2001 (Year 90 of the Republic of China calendar), Kushan Elementary School relocated to a new campus. The Japanese-era buildings on the old campus—the auditorium, office building, and north wing classrooms—were designated as historic sites. The park was closed for restoration after an earthquake in 2016 (Year 105) and reopened in phases starting in 2020 (Year 109). The park features the thematic exhibition 'A Day as an Elementary Student: A Banana Bag of Time,' creating an 'elementary student's perspective' through chibi-style student figurines and giant, realistic stationery models. Simultaneously, using old photos, large maps, and small stories of the Banana City, combined with cross-generational campus memories like QA decoding games, creative bulletin board competitions, and portrait studios, it connects the memories of Chishan schoolchildren's class and break times across different eras. Thematic displays in the 'Joyful Reading Classroom,' 'Retro Classroom,' and 'History Classroom,' along with the pleasant scenery and elegant historic atmosphere, make it suitable for parents and children to visit hand-in-hand for shared reading, reminiscing about elementary school life, and learning about Chishan's history and cultural heritage.
