2026 Taiwan International Play Reading Festival: "Sakura Theater 1937"
This play was created by Korean playwright Moon Ui-yeong (文議榮) and directed by Lee Yi-hsiu (李易修). It uses an AI interview structure to recreate the turbulent memories of the Korean "Sakuraza Theater" in the 1930s, describing how a group of ordinary people reclaim their own voices on the eve of the theater's demolition. The work is performed by Chen Shih-wen (陳世文), Shih Pi-yu (施璧玉), and Huang Chang-jan (黃昶然). It combines historical archaeology with innovative technological narrative, exploring how human stories and the light of art endure even when buildings disappear.
