"Yangqin Pairing - Journey" Li Ling-chiao Yangqin Recital
This concert centers on the yangqin (Chinese hammered dulcimer), combined with xiao (Chinese vertical flute), percussion, piano, cello, morin khuur (horsehead fiddle), and mixed chamber music, showcasing the diverse and rich sonic landscape of yangqin music. The program includes Cantonese music "Sorrow of Lady Zhaojun"; contemporary music pieces "Seeking" and "Y.C.E"; works blending Mongolian and Middle Eastern music such as "Original Wind" and "Loulan Woman"; additionally, Li Ling-chiao will premiere her own composition for yangqin and mixed chamber ensemble, "Secret Visit," which uses Beiguan (Northern Taiwanese traditional music) elements to outline emotional memories of Taiwan's temple procession culture. The concert guides the audience on an auditory journey, allowing them to experience the imagination of sound as it flows, pauses, and transforms within space.
