【Weaving Brocade with Poetry】2026 Youdianzi Print Studio Group Exhibition
"Forgive me for stealing the work of nature, I wish to weave brocade with poetry..." — Cheng Ch'ou-yü (鄭愁予), "Little Poem Brocade" (小詩錦)
The intricate and complex creative process of printmaking, from the initial draft, through plate-making, color planning and ink rolling, registration, and finally pressing to form the image, requires absolute rationality and sustained concentration, much like the delicate weaving of silk embroidery, not allowing the slightest error. However, as the core meaning of creation, infusing metaphysical spiritual discourse and spontaneous romantic poetry into the work is the inescapable destiny of the artist.
Therefore, print artists must balance and navigate between poetry and rationality on their creative path, sometimes reflecting on their inner self and gazing into the depths of inspiration, and at other times returning to the present moment of creative expression and reverting to the meticulous and cautious practical process. This creative characteristic makes print artists exhibit a more unique creative personality compared to artists in different fields.
After thousands of years of development in the East and West, the face of printmaking today brings together traditional engraving techniques and a hundred schools of new-generation printmaking vocabulary, allowing this ancient art with a long history to reveal a magnificent and diverse contemporary new look.
Founded in 2012 at the initiative of three senior veteran artists Lai Chen-hui (賴振輝), Shen Chin-yuan (沈金源), and Kuo Po-chou (郭博洲), Youdianzi Print Studio (友點子版畫工作室) has now been established for fourteen years and has developed into a creative group of nearly thirty print artists. Over the years, members have exhibited and exchanged works both domestically and internationally. This joint exhibition at Er Space (二空間) will present to art friends the brocade-like poetic monologue and the exquisite and subtle contemporary printmaking elegance in each artist's work through various printmaking techniques.
Exhibitors: Lai Chen-hui (賴振輝), Shen Chin-yuan (沈金源), Chen Yu-ju (陳昱儒), Yu Yu-te (游裕德), Liao Hsiu-mei (廖秀梅), Chu I-chen (朱顗臻), Lu Ying-chih (呂英志), Li Fang-ching (李芳菁), Li Meng-fang (李孟芳), Li Chao-i (李昭儀), Li Wei (李瑋), Lin Hsin-ju (林辛儒), Lin Ching-i (林靜宜), Wu Pei-i (吳佩儀), Yao Fang (姚芳), Huang Yu-chia (黃昱佳), Kuo Hsueh-mei (郭雪梅), Chang Ling-hsiang (張淩翔), Tseng Hsueh-mei (曾雪梅), Yeh Yung-tzu (葉永慈), Chao Yu-tung (趙予彤), Chen Pi-wen (陳苾文), Hsieh Ying-ying (謝鶯鶯), Tai Chao-chi (戴兆琪), Su Shu (蘇姝)
