Traditional Weaving and Modified Garment Application Course

Date: 2026-03-17 — 2026-07-07 Organizer: 劉秀蘭
Indigenous peoples in urban areas often lack the environment and resources to make traditional attire due to being far from their tribes. This course is designed for urban tribe members with zero foundation, moving beyond the traditional teaching method of 'simply copying patterns.' It introduces professional clothing pattern logic and structural thinking. The course focuses on two highly representative ethnic garments: the geometric weave and clean cut of the Bunun men's panel skirt, and the rich colors and multi-layered dynamic aesthetics of the Taitung Amis men's panel skirt. With the aid of modern sewing tools, combined with traditional hand-sewing embroidery and micro-weaving, the course guides participants to materialize tribal memories stitch by stitch. This is not merely a transmission of skills but a journey of cultural re-rooting, allowing tribe members in the Taoyuan urban area to rebuild cultural confidence by personally constructing garment structures.
