Traditional Drum and Percussion Music Heritage Workshop
To pass down the precious local folk culture, the "Traditional Drum and Percussion Music Heritage Workshop" will be held starting July at the activity center below the Niu-chiao Wu-ling-kung Temple (牛角五靈公廟). Registration is now open. The Matsu Drum and Percussion Association (馬祖鼓板協會) sincerely invites all乡亲 and students to sign up and experience the charm of traditional Matsu drum and percussion together. The workshop is divided into three sessions based on participants, each session is expected to enroll 30 people (priority given to new immigrants, indigenous peoples, and other disadvantaged groups):
First Session: July 11-12 (Saturday & Sunday): Primarily for school students.
Second Session: July 18-19 (Saturday & Sunday): Primarily for beginners interested in drum and percussion.
Third Session: August 8-9 (Saturday & Sunday): An advanced course, primarily for current drum and percussion team members.
Course content: The first day includes an introduction to Niu-chiao and Shan-lung drum and percussion, teaching drum notation and chants, and instruction on drumming techniques and performance skills. The second day will further teach memory techniques for drum notation, drumming skills, and will include a results showcase and formation marching inspection. All participating trainees will be provided with a free lunch box, beverages, snacks, and a fine promotional gift. We welcome all乡亲 to join and experience the beauty of traditional Matsu musical instruments!
