Trade Winds Keelung 400 Mail Art

Date: 2026-05-15 — 2026-08-16 Organizer: 國立臺灣歷史博物館
Setting sail from Keelung, continuing to Tainan.
Starting from "Trade Winds Keelung," this exhibition uses postcards sent out one by one to write blessings, record memories, and initiate exchanges between cities. As a medium that can be mailed, read, and treasured, postcards carry personal emotions and urban imaginations, connecting local and global gazes in their journeys back and forth.
The exhibition follows the trajectory of the trade winds, sailing from the port city of Keelung to Tainan. Tainan, as a crucial starting point in Taiwan's historical development, witnesses the convergence and evolution of multiple cultures. The National Museum of Taiwan History, as an important site bearing the island's memories, allows these mail art creations from around the world to be re-read here and incorporated into a longer historical context.
These works that traverse geography and time converge and linger in Tainan, becoming an important medium connecting city to city, past to present. Each postcard is both a delivery of emotion and a transformation into part of a shared memory, reflecting the interwoven diversity of Taiwanese culture.
The blessings carried by the trade winds continue to ferment with the accumulation of time, allowing the dialogue about cities, the island, and the future to continue here.
