The Museum's Secret Room

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 國立臺灣史前文化博物館
After over a decade of archaeological excavation work, the quality and quantity of artifacts unearthed at the Southern Taiwan Science Park have yielded astonishing discoveries.

The current excavation results from the Southern Taiwan Science Park area categorize the unearthed archaeological specimens into four types: human skeletal specimens and their burial containers, ecological specimens, artifact specimens, and extracted feature specimens.

The exhibition space specially presents to the audience the museum's artifact preservation and conservation work, which is rarely seen by the public.

Using the excavation process of burial remains from the Southern Taiwan Science Park archaeological site as an example, it explains the workflow of archaeological artifacts from on-site excavation to their subsequent conservation and preservation after entering the museum.

The sorting and processing of unearthed artifacts is time-consuming and requires substantial human and material resources. After the establishment of the Southern Taiwan Science Park Archaeology Museum, sufficient research results are even more necessary to further advance exhibition plans.
