Taichung City South District Kuokuang Elementary School Arts Festival Gratitude Series Event "Gathering Light, Music, and Shadows"

The Kuokuang Elementary School Chinese Orchestra was established in 1998. Currently, under the leadership of Principal Chang Chia-hsin (張家馨), instructors Fang Kuo-lung (方國龍) and Yu Pei-hsin (余珮欣) serve as conductors, Teacher Li Yu-hsuan (李雨瑄) serves as the head of the orchestra, and Ms. Tai Jui-hsien (戴瑞賢) serves as the president of the support association. The Chinese Orchestra recruits new students every July, targeting students from grades 1 to 6. Classes are held every Monday and Wednesday afternoon, divided into wind, bowed string, plucked string, percussion, and bass sections. Each section is instructed by renowned teachers from the central Taiwan Chinese music community. Thanks to the dedicated instruction of the teachers, the diligent practice of the students, and the enthusiastic assistance of the parent support association, their performance improves year by year. They have consistently won superior awards in the elementary school group for Chinese orchestra ensemble for many consecutive years. In the 2025 academic year, they even achieved a special superior award in the national music competition for silk and bamboo chamber music and a superior award for Chinese orchestra ensemble, with outstanding results. Their performances at various events have received widespread acclaim and praise.
The Kuokuang Elementary School Dance Club was established in 2001. It is currently instructed by Tung Ying-chen (童盈甄) and Chao Hsiao-ching (趙孝菁). It has always been based on developing healthy minds and bodies, with a rigorous training process and solid dance foundations. This year, it represented Taichung City in the national dance competition and achieved a special superior award!
The Kuokuang Elementary School Drum Arts Club was established in 2004. It is currently coached by Hsu Su-ying (徐愫鍈) and Shih Yu-che (施宇哲). Since its establishment, it has participated in many competitions and performances of various scales, all of which have been well-received.
