Sutured Myth

Artist Yume Aoyama (青山夢) superimposes contemporary visual languages such as manga and anime onto deep structures like views of life and death, faith, and folk heritage, attempting to explore a mythical world that manifests across time and space.

The body of a monster covered in suture marks, a dense and intensely colored texture reminiscent of the Shōwa period, and smooth, refined character contours characteristic of the Heisei era—these elements coexist within the same image. Perceptions from different eras are interwoven through "suturing" and reconstructed into new existences.

This exhibition incorporates the Kerberos/Cerberus born from disaster, bat monsters, mythical beasts rooted in Taiwanese folk beliefs, and festival imagery generated by the intersection of diverse cultures, constructing a field where multiple mythological systems intertwine and collide.

Through these works, the boundaries between past and present, reality and myth, are re-stitched, revealing that "myth" is not a fixed entity but an existence continuously generated in the present, along with its ever-changing forms.
