Silver Creativity: Royal Boat Sets Sail – Inheriting Culture and Blessings
The Royal Boat carries not only faith but also a hope for peace and stability in Taiwan's coastal culture.
For many, the Royal Boat is not just a festival; it is an important memory and cultural heritage passed down through generations.
The historical origin of sending off the Royal Boat is generally traced back to ancient Chinese folk rituals of sending away plagues and epidemics. In ancient Chinese society, during epidemics, symbolic rituals were often used to send plagues and disasters away from settlements, including the practice of loading ominous objects onto boats and sending them away via waterways. Such rituals, centered on the concept of "sending away," are considered an important ideological foundation for the later Royal Boat belief and custom.
The elders from the Peimen Daycare and the Hsuehchia Daycare have also specially chosen the "Royal Boat" as their theme, meticulously folding paper Royal Boats filled with blessings with their own hands. From folding and assembling to completing the display, each piece contains the elders' dedication and focus, also showcasing their vitality and creativity. Through this exhibition, we hope not only to let everyone appreciate the elders' works but also to help more people understand the significance of Royal Boat culture, feel the warmth of local faith and human kindness, and together continue to pass on this precious culture.
