"River Flow" Recorder Chamber Concert
"River Flow" takes the sound of "river", symbolizing the flow of time and emotion; "river" also implies "harmony", pointing to reconciliation with oneself and the past; "flow" is as transparent, delicate, and pure as glass, reflecting the flowing sounds and emotions in music. Between flow and reflection, we try to listen inwardly, letting everything slowly return to peace, and this serves as the starting point of this concert. This concert is jointly presented by three musicians passionate about recorder performance — Chu Guan-ying (朱冠穎), Lin Chun-yu (林峻宇), and Huang Chia-ching (黃佳靜). For us, this is a process of looking back. In our respective learning journeys, we have repeatedly conversed with our instruments and struggled between bottlenecks and the pursuit of perfection; now reunited by this shared passion, we try to find a more stable state within sound, transforming past experiences into delicate resonance among us. Following this line of thought, the concert unfolds along the flow of time: the repertoire starts from Renaissance and Baroque, transforms and adapts through Classical to Romantic periods, then returns to Baroque vocabulary, forming a pulsating sound flow like a river. This path also reflects the history of the recorder — from once flourishing, to gradually fading, until revived again in the ancient music revival, and re-converging in the 20th century. Through changes in timbre and syntax, the flow of time and sound slowly unfolds in listening.
