"Octet: A Narrative of Silk and Bamboo" Kaohsiung Chinese Orchestra Silk & Bamboo Concert
"Octet: A Narrative of Silk and Bamboo" centers on contemporary silk and bamboo music creation, linking eight works into a narrative axis constructed by sound. The journey begins with the playful postures of Lai Chia-chen's (賴嘉宸) "Chou Nong," traverses the clear atmosphere of Jen Chung's (任重) "Summer Breeze" and the traveler's sentiments of Liu Chang's (劉暢) "Traveler's Song," entering the pure, cold, and lucid sonic realm of Liang Yun-jiang's (梁云江) "Moon over the Glacier at Dawn" (Taiwan Premiere). Lu Wei-chun's (陸尉俊) "Plucked Rock" injects rhythmic energy, Yang Chun-lin's (楊春林) "Drifting Clouds" flows freely, Ho Li-jen's (何立仁) "Sentimental Melody" is subtly profound, and finally, the concert returns to tranquility within the ink-wash imagery of Chang Yung-chin's (張永欽) "Rain" (arr. Chang Yi-hung). The eight works are like eight states of mind, guiding listeners through the interweaving of silk and bamboo to embark on a contemporary sonic journey, finding their own light, shadow, and story.
