"NTSO 2025/26 Season Concert - Mei-Ann Chen, Kai-min Chang and the NTSO"
Svensen was a Norwegian composer contemporary with Grieg. His orchestral works fully exploit the colorful sounds of the orchestra. His Symphony No. 2 is like a collection of folk songs, with melodious tunes reminiscent of songs echoing in the fjords. The same concert features Holten's "Grand Parade," which assembles several Danish children's songs and presents them in a continuous four-movement structure, creating an interesting listening experience. Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 has a completely different style, filled with a strong tragic tone throughout. Young pianist Kai-min Chang will be the soloist, with Mei-Ann Chen conducting the NTSO, taking you into the splendid colors of Northern Europe.
