"Music Embraces Early Summer, Treasuring Glory" Concert
Welcoming the early summer arts event, the Taipei Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will hold the "Music Embraces Early Summer, Treasuring Glory" concert at 7:30 PM on Saturday, June 6th, at the Matsu Meishi Arts Center. With vibrant performances and classic symphonic movements, they invite Matsu residents to spend a summer night filled with artistic atmosphere.
This year marks the orchestra's 20th anniversary. "Music Embraces Early Summer, Treasuring Glory" specially features a diverse program spanning classical music, opera, film scores, and Taiwanese folk songs. Conducted by Liu Po-hung (劉柏宏) and Yu Chia-fu (游家輔), the concert showcases the solid performance skills and rich musical expression of the young musicians.
The concert will bring many familiar classic works, including Suppe's Light Cavalry Overture, the first and fourth movements of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, selections from Bizet's Carmen Suite, as well as popular film and musical works like Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera Suite and Hans Zimmer's The Lion King Suite. The performance also incorporates local Taiwanese elements, arranging "Tuberose" and the rhapsody "April Rain Gazing" arranged by Yu Chia-fu (游家輔), showcasing the beauty of Taiwanese music culture through familiar melodies.
The finale is selected as Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1. With its majestic and glorious melody, it symbolizes the orchestra's 20-year growth and artistic accumulation, also drawing a splendid conclusion to the entire concert.
The organizers stated that they hope through this performance to allow more people to get close to symphonic music, feel the emotion and power brought by music, and allow art and culture to continue taking root in the offshore islands.
Tickets for the "Music Embraces Early Summer, Treasuring Glory" concert go on sale starting at 12:00 PM on May 11th. Ticket price is NT$100, with open seating. Seniors aged 65 and above and students (Master's degree and below) can enter free of charge with valid ID.
