On January 29, 2024, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society received an emergency call. On one end of the line was the voice of a girl pleading for help, trapped in a burning car while fleeing the war, with bullets flying outside, intercepted and attacked by the Israeli military with nowhere to hide; on the other end of the receiver, colleagues held on to the call for comfort, racing against time to arrange for an ambulance to reach the scene, their shouts a matter of life and death, yet met with overwhelming obstacles.
