Hearing the Island's Dance Steps - 2026 Hou Chih-cheng (侯志正) Flute Works Concert

Dance music, as the most intimate musical form, "Dance with Flutes" originates from the composer's exploration of "how dance can be seen within notes." The complete suite includes nine short pieces of distinct styles, not only gathering dance forms from around the world but also skillfully incorporating Taiwan's local cultural rhythms. Its rich rhythms and emotions best resonate with the audience. This concert will use the flute, an ancient instrument with beautiful tone and strong expressive power, to perfectly interpret the myriad charms of dances from many countries. Our goal is not only to bring an artistic feast to the audience but also, through the clever arrangement of the music, to provide flutists and educators with a valuable teaching material that combines solo and ensemble techniques and explores diverse musical styles.
